Songbird is always curious about natural dyes and colors, and so one morning after a load of questions about what color we would get with this plant, etc., etc., we decided to get out all the jars and do a little experiment. We soaked various plants in boiling water all day long, and then mixed the brightest purest colors with a little egg or a little flour. Then we painted. It was a fun process, though I'm not quite ready to make all of our paints from scratch :)
